WHAT WE CUT
MILD STEEL
The workhorse of sheet metal fabrication. We cut mild steel from 0.5mm gauge through to 20mm plate. Clean edges, consistent quality across full production runs.
STAINLESS STEEL
304 and 316 grade. Ideal for food-grade, architectural, and marine applications. Laser cutting produces clean, oxide-free edges on stainless without secondary grinding.
ALUMINIUM
Lightweight and corrosion-resistant. We laser cut aluminium sheet for architectural, marine, and industrial applications. All thicknesses from fine gauge to 12mm.
CORTEN / WEATHERING STEEL
Increasingly specified for architectural and landscaping work. We cut Corten to profile — ideal for planter boxes, garden edging, signage, and facade elements.
GALVABOND / ZINCANNEAL
Pre-galvanised and zinc-coated sheet for applications requiring corrosion protection without post-fab coating. Clean laser cuts with no edge treatment needed.
PERFORATED SHEET
Custom perforated patterns cut directly from your DXF. Acoustic panels, screens, ventilation — any pattern, any material.
FLATBED LASER VS TUBE LASER — WHICH DO YOU NEED?
FLATBED LASER
Flat sheet profiles
Our CNC flatbed laser cuts 2D profiles directly from your DXF. Flat sheet material from 0.5mm to 20mm. No tooling, no setup cost for new geometry. Ideal for: enclosure panels, brackets, structural plates, architectural screens, decorative profiles, and any flat sheet component.
Use for: Sheet profiles, panels, brackets, enclosures, decorative screens
TUBE LASER
Hollow sections and profiles
Our CNC tube laser cuts round, square, and rectangular hollow sections — adding holes, slots, mitre joints, and complex 3D profiles in a single pass. Replaces sawing, drilling, and manual layout entirely. Most Melbourne SMB fabricators don't have one.
Use for: Frame structures, handrails, furniture, trailer chassis, structural assemblies

What file types do you accept for laser cutting quotes?
We accept DXF, STEP (.step, .stp), PDF, and DWG files. Maximum file size is 50MB. If you only have a sketch or concept, our CAD team can convert it to a cuttable file.
What is the maximum thickness Westberg can laser cut?
Our flatbed laser cuts up to 20mm in mild steel and stainless steel. Aluminium up to approximately 12mm. For specific material and thickness combinations, upload your file and we'll confirm in the quote.
How long does laser cutting take in Melbourne?
We return quotes within 24 hours. Most standard flat-sheet jobs are cut within 3–5 business days of approval. Urgent jobs — call (03) 9459 4600 directly.
Does Westberg offer tube laser cutting?
Yes. We operate a CNC tube laser for round, square, and rectangular hollow sections. This is a rarer capability among Melbourne SMB fabricators — most only offer flatbed laser cutting.
